Obtaining my PhD from the National University of Singapore in 2014 marked a significant milestone in my academic journey. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Finance & Economics in China in 2009.

Since May 2015, I have served as a Senior Lecturer of Economics at the School of Economics, SMU, contributing to the academic community and sharing my expertise with students.

My commitment to teaching excellence has been recognized through nominations for prestigious awards. In 2023, I was nominated for the Annual Core Curriculum Teaching Excellence Awards at Singapore Management University. In 2018, I received a nomination for the Innovative Teacher Award, showcasing my dedication to creative and effective teaching methods. Additionally, my contributions to graduate education were acknowledged with the Graduate Studentsā Teaching Award at the National University of Singapore in 2013, along with a Letter of Commendation for Graduate Tutor in the same year. My academic journey was supported by the NUS Research Scholarship in 2009 and the Central University of Finance and Economics Scholarship in 2007, 2006, and 2005.

My research focuses on the Economics of Education, exploring the intricate dynamics and implications within this field. By delving into educational economics, I aim to contribute valuable insights to the broader academic community and society at large.

Grants and Funding: I have been actively engaged in securing non-research grants and funding to support innovative teaching approaches. Notable instances include contributions to the Technology Enhanced Learning: Subscription Fund from the Center of Teaching Excellence in February 2023 and February 2020. Additionally, I received the President Incentive for Blended Learning from Singapore Management University in July 2016, reflecting my commitment to enhancing the educational experience through technological integration.
Presentations and Talks: My commitment to knowledge dissemination is evident through various presentations and talks at prestigious conferences. Noteworthy events include presentations at The 15th and 14th Asian Conference on Education in Japan in November 2023 and December 2022, respectively, and the 26th Australasian Teaching Economics Conference in July 2022. These platforms provide an avenue for sharing insights and contributing to the academic discourse on education and economics.
Invited Seminars, Talks, and Lectures: As an invited speaker, I have shared my expertise in diverse settings. Notable engagements include a session on “Design for Student Engagement Using Annoto and Genially” in April 2024 during a lunch-time Faculty Development Session. I also contributed to the Teaching Innovation Report at the SMU Learning Innovation Festival in September 2018. These opportunities reflect my dedication to fostering effective and engaging learning environments.

I have served as a referee for esteemed academic journals, including the Singapore Economic Review, Eastern European Business and Economics, International Review of Economics Education, and Advances in Economics Education. This involvement underscores my commitment to maintaining high standards within the academic publishing community.

In recognition of my expertise, I currently serve as the External Examiner for Management Foundation Studies, Blended Management Foundation Studies, and Prep Course for Foundation Studies programs at the Singapore Institute of Management. This role allows me to contribute to the evaluation and enhancement of foundational management education in Singapore, promoting academic excellence.
