šŸ“ Thesis and Research

M.V.Sc. Thesis
  • Title: Prevalence of Newcastle Disease in Backyard and Commercial Poultry in Assam
  • Advisor: Dr. M.K. Nath
  • Abstract: The study detailed the prevalence and characterization of NDV in Assam, revealing a 23.89% overall seroprevalence. Age-wise seroprevalence showed higher antibody titres in birds >12 months. Molecular pathotyping indicated all isolates were virulent.
Ph.D. Thesis
  • Title: Immunogenic Potential of a Thermostable Newcastle Disease Virus (Genotype XIII) Isolate from Assam
  • Advisor: Dr. G. Mahato
  • Abstract: This research focused on thermoadapting and attenuating a mesogenic NDV isolate to evaluate its immunogenic potential. The adapted NDV retained thermostability and induced an immune response comparable to conventional vaccines.

šŸŒŸ Significant Contributions

Development of Thermostable NDV Vaccine: Actively involved in the development, technology transfer, and recognition by Assam Agricultural University. Isolation of NDV Strains: Submitted isolates to VTCC, Hisar. DNA Genome Sequences: Submitted sequences to NCBI Genebank.

šŸŒ Professional Experience

Junior Research Fellow: DBT-Twinning project on Newcastle disease virus at Department of Microbiology, CVSc., Assam Agricultural University (Dec 2020 – Jul 2022). Assistant Professor: Department of Veterinary Medicine, Institute of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Siksha ā€˜Oā€™ Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha (Nov 2023 – Present).

šŸŽ¼ Extracurricular Activities

NCC: Participated in CATC at 47 Assam R&V Sqn, NCC, awarded Grade A in B-certificate examination. Music: Bachelor of Music, Visharad (Vocal) from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow. Multiple positions in group song categories at Annual College Meet.
