She holds a BS-MS dual degree from IISER Bhopal and has extensive research experience in climate change, remote sensing, and meteorology. Arathi has worked on multiple projects, including elevation-dependent climate change in the Third Pole and post-monsoon tropical cyclone variability in the Bay of Bengal. With expertise in Python, MATLAB, GIS, and environmental field techniques, she actively contributes to climate modeling and atmospheric research. She has presented at international conferences and published in high-impact journals. A recipient of the prestigious INSPIRE Scholarship, she is a dedicated scientist committed to understanding climate dynamics and environmental sustainability.
Publication Profile
πEducation
Arathi Rameshan is currently pursuing a PhD at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, focusing on climate science. She completed her BS-MS dual degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences from IISER Bhopal (2016-2021). Her masterβs thesis investigated post-monsoon tropical cyclone variability over the Bay of Bengal. She completed her higher secondary education at CGHSS St. Clareβs, Thrissur, Kerala (2016), and her high school education at AVS Govt. Higher Secondary School, Karivellur, Kerala (2014). Her strong academic foundation in environmental sciences and climate studies has paved the way for her advanced research in atmospheric processes.
πΌExperience
Arathi is a PhD researcher at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt, working on elevation-dependent climate change in the Third Pole (2022-present). She conducted her masterβs research at IISER Bhopal, analyzing post-monsoon tropical cyclone variability (2020-2021). She interned at the Central University of Kerala, performing a temporal analysis of vegetation changes using remote sensing (2019). Her internship at the Centre for Human Genetics (2018) focused on mutational analysis, and at Cochin University of Science and Technology (2017), she studied gravity theories. She has also participated in geological and environmental field studies, enhancing her expertise in field data collection and analysis.
πAwards and Honors
Arathi has received the INSPIRE Scholarship from the Government of India (top 1% among 0.5 million students, 2016-2021). She presented her research at the CLM-Community Assembly in Belgium (2023) and the Elevation-Dependent Climate Change Workshop in Austria (2022). She was an institute nominee for Girl βSTEM STARsβ of India (2021) and participated in the IISER Bhopal Annual EES poster presentation (2021). She is a member of Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (Peopleβs Science Movement of Kerala) and has engaged in UNFCCCβs Green Revolution Global Program (2018). She was also a student member of the Indian Science Congress (2016-2017) and participated in Keralaβs state-level science congresses.
