Mr. Sujan Chaudhary is a dedicated botanist and scientific officer at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), specializing in ethnobotany, forest ecology, phytochemistry, carbon sequestration, and traditional medicine. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Botany from Tribhuvan University and completed his Master’s degree in Botany , during which his exceptional research earned him the prestigious NAST Master Thesis Award. Beyond research, Chaudhary has contributed significantly to education, serving as a teaching assistant at Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus and working as a higher secondary teacher at Lord Buddha International School, Small Heaven Academy, and Gurung Chauri Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, where he inspired students through science education. He also serves as a promotional editor for the Nepal Journal of Biotechnology, contributing to academic publishing and knowledge dissemination. His scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications in international journals, covering diverse areas such as the physicochemical and antioxidant properties of wild edible fruits, genetic diversity of citrus species, arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization in Shorea robusta forests, ethnomedicinal plant use across Nepal, and ecological impacts of invasive alien species. His works, published in journals like Applied Food Research, South African Journal of Botany, Vegetos, Ecological Frontiers, and Ethnobotany Research and Applications, have enhanced understanding of biodiversity conservation, traditional knowledge, and sustainable resource management. Alongside his academic and research roles, Chaudhary has engaged in volunteer work and global research collaborations, strengthening Nepal’s scientific presence internationally. With strong skills in R software and data analysis, he bridges traditional ecological knowledge with modern research approaches, aiming to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable biodiversity use.
