Dr. Shivika Chouksey | Veterinary Andrology | Best Researcher Award

Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University | India

Dr. Shivika Chouksey is a Senior Research Fellow in a Government of India-funded NLM project at the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, NDVSU, Jabalpur, specializing in veterinary andrology and gynaecology. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry from Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, followed by a Master’s in Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, graduating at the top of her class and receiving the Bharat Lal Memorial Gold Medal. She then completed her PhD in the same field, demonstrating a consistent record of academic excellence. Dr. Chouksey has contributed significantly to reproductive biotechnology in goats, developing a practical method for semen freezing that allows collection and cryopreservation from field or remote locations without compromising sperm quality. She identified the mitochondrial-derived peptide “Humanin” in buck semen and testes for the first time globally and studied its correlation with seasonal fertility patterns. Her research further explored the effects of antioxidants such as melatonin, L-carnitine, and cystine in semen extenders and analyzed seasonal variations of seminal plasma proteins using SDS-PAGE. In addition, she designed a modified vaginal speculum for goats, currently under patent consideration. Dr. Chouksey has participated in numerous workshops, trainings, and conferences, earning multiple accolades, including the Young Women Scientist Award and Young Scientist Awards from various national and state-level scientific bodies, as well as recognition for best oral and poster presentations. She holds four published books and two patents under process and maintains professional memberships in four scientific organizations. Her work reflects a commitment to advancing applied veterinary reproductive science, combining innovation with practical solutions to improve goat fertility management. Dr. Chouksey’s research contributions and dedication to scientific advancement exemplify her position as an emerging leader in her field.
