Dr. Sunil Kumar is a distinguished energy and climate change expert with over 12 years of experience in sustainable energy, green transition, and climate policy. Currently serving as a Consultant at NITI Aayog, Government of India, he specializes in net-zero transitions, sustainable cooling, building energy research, and clean energy adoption. Dr. Kumar holds a Ph.D. in Energy and Environment from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, where his research focused on quantifying occupant adaptive actions to improve indoor environmental quality. Rohan Kumar holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester, where he focused on Offshore Wind Climatology and Energy Conversion. He was awarded the prestigious Overseas Research Scholarship by the Government of India for his doctoral studies. Prior to that, he earned a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Hydrology from TERI SAS, Delhi. His undergraduate studies were completed with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Sciences from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi.

 

💼 Experience 

Rohan currently works as a researcher at Uppsala University, where he focuses on developing scenarios for shipping emission reductions, modeling emissions, and proposing high-resolution inventories for alternative fuels. He integrates emission data into climate models to assess impacts on the Baltic Sea region and has worked extensively on decarbonization strategies for the shipping industry.,Before his current role, Rohan served as a postdoctoral researcher at Uppsala University, where he worked on climate modeling using WRF-Chem to assess long-term impacts of shipping emissions. His earlier roles also include serving as an advisor and consultant for energy and environment projects at Sterling Agro Industries, where he led feasibility studies for solar and wind energy projects. He has also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Manchester and as a lecturer at TERI SAS, Delhi.
