Dr. Maxim Idriss MELI TAMETANG is a Cameroonian academic and researcher specializing in mechanics and mechatronics. he currently serves as a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Dschang. His academic journey began in 2011, leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanics in 2014, followed by a Master’s degree in 2016, and culminating in a Ph.D. in Mechanics in 2022, all from the University of Dschang. His doctoral research focused on optimizing energy management and improving the performance of hybrid electric vehicles. Dr. MELI has published multiple research articles in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals such as Chaos (AIP Publishing) and Chaos, Solitons & Fractals (Elsevier). He is also actively involved in teaching, supervising postgraduate students, and presenting at national and international scientific forums. 🎓 Education 

Dr. MELI earned his Ph.D. in Mechanics (Mechatronics) from the University of Dschang, Cameroon, between January 2017 and February 2022, graduating with the highest honors. His doctoral thesis, supervised by Prof. David Yemele, was titled Contribution to the Optimization of Energy Management and Improvement of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Performances: Application in Mechatronics. He also holds a Master’s degree in Mechanics from the same university, awarded in 2016, where he focused on hybrid energy source engines and energy management systems. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanics in 2014. Additionally, he earned the DIPET II (Technical School Teacher’s Diploma) from HTTTC Bamenda, Cameroon, in 2017 with an “Excellent” grade, completing a project on GPS and GSM vehicle tracking systems. His foundational studies include the GCE Advanced Level from Government High Bilingual School, Bafoussam, with a focus on mathematics and physics, equivalent to the French Baccalauréat C.

💼 Experience 

Dr. MELI has amassed rich academic experience as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Dschang since 2020, where he teaches courses in Dynamic Systems, Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Methods, and General Physics. He is actively involved in laboratory instruction and tutorial sessions across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His teaching spans multiple departments including Physics, Mathematics, and Software Engineering. He also serves as a programming instructor at IAI Cameroon, Bafoussam, covering languages such as MATLAB, FORTRAN, Pascal, and PHP. Dr. MELI’s research focuses on nonlinear dynamics, electromechanical system modeling, and sustainable energy systems, with a particular emphasis on hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). His current work explores the development of optimized electromagnetic and passive magnetic dampers with negative stiffness, aiming to enhance the suspension systems of HEVs. He employs advanced tools such as the Lagrange energy method, Melnikov theory, and multiple time scale methods to derive and analyze dynamic equations. His simulations use Runge-Kutta algorithms to produce bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, and system responses. Previously, his Ph.D. work introduced a wind energy system integrated into HEVs for real-time battery charging, demonstrating improved efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. He also modeled torsional vibrations in electromechanical couplings, uncovering new dynamic behaviors like chaos, antimonotonicity, and coexisting attractors. His broader research interests span renewable energy harvesting, control systems, and energy management optimization—paving the way for eco-friendly and efficient mobility solutions.
