Hlungwani Promise Machingo began his career in 2006 as an Assistant to the Agriculture and Environment Trainer at the Mwenezi Development Training Centre (MDTC) in Zimbabwe. In 2007, he worked as an intern in the Department of Natural Resources and Environment at the Mwenezi Rural District Council (MRDC). From 2009 to 2018, he served as a History and English Language Teacher for the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in Zimbabwe. Since May 2019, he has been a Lecturer in Development Sciences and Policy at the Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. He took on the additional role of Acting Chairperson in the Department of Development Sciences from May 2020 to May 2024. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Johannesburg, College of Business and Economics, School of Public Management, Public Policy and Governance.
